According to IRNA The first Saffron bank of Iran with aim of qualitative conservation of this product is established in Torbat-e-Heydarieh.
Gholamreza Karimi, the president of Iran Saffron Bank, Said: The aim of this bank that is established for the first time
in Iran is to preserve and maintain Saffron in a healthy and controlled condition.
He said: We want to prevent bearing wasting wage of farmers and our next program is introducing Iranian Saffron to the global market. At the moment this Mission is performing by our experts at Mashregh Zamin Zarin Saffron that this bank is also a subset of this company.
Karimi about the benefits of depositing Saffron to the Iran Saffron bank Said:Yet, specialy at the harvesting period we saw the Saffron theft and also some farmers like to maintain their Saffron at the home which is leading to reducing the quality of Saffron. At Iran Saffron Bank we preserve Saffron at the dark and the temprature between 7 and 9 °C.
At the moment Torbat e Heydarieh with 8000 acre of saffron farms is biggest Saffron producer of world an is known as Saffron capital of iran.
There are about 117000 families employed at Saffron cultivation, and about 15000 of these families live in Torbat-e-Heydarieh.
The mean of saffron production in Razavi Khorasan is 4kg per acre and this amount is 4.2kg in Torbat e Heydarieh.
